I have searced all over the web and can't find anything. I have a program running in the background called "keyimg*****". I assume it is some of key stroke virus but can't delete it. I found where it is on com windows/cursors but it won't let me delte it. I end the process in task mamager but it just comes back. I am farely computer literate but cant seem to get rid of it.
I run NAV 2005 for virus protection and am behind a hardware firewall and router.
Download a good spyware blocker/remover. Do a forum search and there are a ton of spyware things you can get for free online. Did you do a virus scan with your Norton?
My old Belkin keyboard came with a similar program. I deleted it in safe mode under DOS. My keyboard functioned OK afterward also. The keyboard did have some other issues so I switched to the Memorex keyboard I am using now.
Ive used a program called Pest Patrol which I have found to be the best spyware remover. I have had a few stubborn trojans/spyware that required me to manually edit registry entries ( not for your average user ) in order to stop them from "re-booting" themselves.
Also, after a fresh re-boot, immediately stop the suspected process from running, run your spyware program and see if it catches and removes it. Sometimes when you run the spyware programs and it says it removed the item, if you still have the trojan program running in the background it will store itself in memory for your next reboot....and you will never get rid of it
As I can not find anything when I do a search, I would be surprised if this is spyware or a trojan. I would find the exe on your hard drive and take a look at the properties and see, if listed, whose program it is. If you would still like to get rid of it, do regedit and search for the command that starts it. You will probably find it under HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/run.
To save the registry entry, just in case do an export to a .reg file, then delete the entry. If you find you need the program, just double click on the .reg file and it will be restored to the registry.
If he's running 98, 98Se or I think Me, and the reg. is starting the program, he can turn it off in Msinfo, tools, system config. and uncheck the box untill he finds a way to get rid of it.
