A friend of mine told me about a Discovery show on super volcanoes- mostly one in Yellowstone Park, that is overdue to erupt again. It is so large, it would possibly kill most life on the planet, due to 'nuclear winter' conditions that would kill most vegetation. So, I did a search, and came to this site: http://armageddononline.tripod.com/index.htm. I don't recommend it unless you're either an optimist, or feel you're ready to meet your maker! The site discusses about a dozen world-ending scenarios, all of which are possible, depending on how much of their research you believe. It does change your perspective as to whether or not you should pay off those pesky credit cards, tho'...
Sounds like the day after tommorrow movie. I'm not worried about it, if the earth explodes or an asteroid falls on my head........what can I do about it?!
Sounds like something those morons that poisoned themselfs at the strike of 12 new years 2000 would say.
I wonder if their souls ever met up with that flying saucer.
If the worlds ending, guess I don't have to feel so bad about driving a 5.8L ford, or clubbing baby seals. Just kidding, I try not to think about it.. nobody gets out of this thing alive.
I take my boat out on Yellowstone lake every chance I get. It sits right on top of 'Old Smokey'. Great fishing and solitude. I figure, with the luck I have playing the lottery, ain't no way I'm gonna get lit up while there. Besides, if it did rip while I was fishing, I'd never know about it anyway.
there are some developments in the Yellowstone lake that make you wonder, and there certainly is proof that it has happened a number of times already. But if it happens, that's just the way it is, I'm ready, if it happens, I'd rather go right away rather than suffer through the after effects. Most of North America won't have to worry about it too long, as the ash and hot vapors have gone as far as western Missouri down to Texas. When I lived and worked near Buffalo Gap, South Dakota, the hills looked like giant snowdrifts just to the east of the Black Hills, so I can see evidence of such a thing having happened before. We don't know if it will or won't happen, and if it did, it wouldn't do much good to have food stocks unless you had enough to last more than a year, because it will take longer than that for the ecosystem to recover. There would still be life on the planet, just not in the area affected. Life will adapt, as it has before.
Welllllll..... let's see...NW Mt... not too far away from there considering the size of the possible explosion I don't think I'd have a thing to worry about. POOF! If the shock wave don't get us, whatever comes back down will. Well.. when it's your time to go, let's hope it's quick and as painless as possible. Until it happens I don't think I'm going to lose a lot of sleep worrying about it.
I actuallty tried to look at the website. Didn't realize it was one of those... but I did see a piece on Discovery a while back on the super volcanoes, there are about 6 of them like Yellowstone around the world, and they have found evidence on the fact they do erupt, but they have no way to pinpoint when EXACTLY they happen, and there window of activity is pretty wide. But they have figured out that Yellowstone itself has gone up about 6 times I think it was, and about every 750,000 years. I visited Craters of the Moon out there near yellowstone a year ago, and they show all the different eruptions that have occurred there. Right now there is a dome forming in the Yellowstone Lake, and the lakes has shifted into areas it hasn't been before. I'm not being an alarmist, just stating what has happened. It may happen, tomorrow, it may happen 1000 years from now. I don't intend to make any changes in my life according to what may happen, because I don't know when or if it will. I live for today, plan for tomorrow, then you can't go wrong. We don't know we have tomorrow, so why sweat it? You could be in a wreck or some freak accident, and that's that. No reason to worry about something that may happen, especially one that we have absolutely no control over.
