Factory Torque Specifications

I had my 360 converted to 390, was wondering what the torque specs for the water pump, intake manifold and the timing cover was. Also what do you recommend for gasket sealant.

thanks for the info.

The water pump torque is 20-25 ft lbs
Timing cover is 12-15 ft lbs
Intakes are as follows, Iron-35 ft lbs and aluminum 25 ft lbs. If you have an aftermarket intake the manufactuers specs might differ. G.

Glad to help. I use Victor Reinz intake gaskets and just use some permatex ultra black on the cork end gaskets. Some guys just use the permatex and no cork end gaskets also. Just let it start to setup a bit before dropping the intake on. If the heads or intake have been shaved this sometimes creates problems with the end gaskets not fitting and squeezing out when torqued. This is why some don't use the cork and just sealer. G.

Oh and if the intake is an iron one it sometimes helps to have a buddy help drop it on. Those are heavy suckers! Just make sure all the surfaces are nice and clean with no gasket or sealer residue. Forgot to add that above...G.
