I see said the blind man (to his deaf friend). It would help if I read the whole thing. I have just one question, what about the great sucking sound !! Can you really give that up??Seriouslly though, I understand, I've even worried about that when driving through standing water after a heavy rain. No problems so far, but then again there's no mud and rocks mixed in , at least I hope not.
i think tom loves muddin too much to care about the hp increase, the freed-up power band, and the wooshing sound. I think he loves it so much he left his truck in the water for a few days to really, just enjoy the situation. Savor the moment, if you will.
Personally, I always want to have my intake on. it makes me feel sexy when i pop my hood at frat parties and tell biff and shelly "that there is a dag-gummed 258, and boy does she scream when i git on 'er....oh does she scream"
I actually hadn't considered trading myself, just wanted you to be aware that you weren't limited to the 03 only, if the model year range on that link is correct. Just in case you hadn't googled that info yet.
It is an interesting thought, though. The wait would be very problematic. I have a 90mile round trip work commute. It would be around the first of the year before I could park my truck for that long because I'll be taking a road trip then, in the wife's car. I'm sure you'll do something before then. Mine is a 2000.
Don't get me wrong, I would miss my Airaid. but getting stuck do to excessive water ingestion is no fun either. And luckily, this time, i had someone to pull me out and give me a jump. Otherwise, the girl in that picture (as well as myself) would NOT have been smiling at all. Corbitt is 60K square acres and full of gators and the only way out is to hike it through waiste deep water. Takes about 3 or more hours. Not fun at all I tell you. And this is not the first time i got stuck from sucking in water.
Rman, you can trust me regarding internet trades. If you need a reference, just ask Joe (true4.2).
They don't make one for our trucks. you are correct sir.
Actually, the only cold air intake for our trucks is the stock intake that runs through the fender wall. This will suck in more cold air than any after market kit.
Hmmm, can stock actually be BETTER than aftermarket??? raises a good question don't it? The stock filter is freakin' huge too. I think it breaths just as good as an aftermarket kit....PLUS...it sucks in colder air from the fender wall while protecting the filter and intake from consuming water during off road conditions. My conclusion, the stock setup is better, which is why i'm switching back.
