Does anyone in here have a blow off valve on thier truck. I think it would be cool to have one, but I think it would be better on a manual truck and sound better.
The amazingly cool high-tech Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) on the 6.0L Powerstroke means that the truck always makes the optimum boost for the conditions. It doesn't just makes scads of boost at all times, needing to senselessly blow some off to the atmosphere when the conditions require less boost. If you just want to make silly pneumatic noises like the ricer boys, perhaps you could rig up a speaker with a tape loop?

A blow off valve only releases boost on throttle release, after being at or close to WOT (changing gears under full accel etc.).
It does this to stop the build up of boost slowing down the turbo for when the throttle is depressed again.
I am not all that familiar with the 6.0l operation, but I do not believe it has a blow off valve (BOV), that is not to say one could not be added.
A BOVs sound is something that somepeople like, I admitedly am not one of them, I think it sounds a little cheesy, but thats my personal opionion, BOVs can be designed to run almost silently, so you don't have the signature "ptttsssschhhhh" that wants the EPA to scour over your car...
A wastegate essentially does what you describe - which is to bleed off boost to the atmosphere under full load, to prevent "over boosting".
A wastegate on the otherhand sounds awesome, IMO, as you get raw exhaust dumped into the atmosphere, and you can hear the engine SCREAM.
