BB Turbo

I have read about the Ball Bearing upgrade for many SD PSD. and that it is a bolt on install. will the Ball Bearing be a bolt on install on an older psd like the 94-97's. I haven't been able to find the turbo on Motorhavens site to look at it. anyone know where I could look at getting one also???

you can get a "holset H2E"($2300) for 94-97 psd's it is not a direct bolt on, you have to add an intercooler or fab up an intake for it you can see it at dieselsite . com

The BB is only a direct swap for the 99.5-2003 trucks.

So then what is the difference in the 97 to SD turbo that makes them so hard to swap on, i just assumed that ford would use the same turbo set up on the sd that they used on the first powerstrokes, other then the different compressor wheel. and what is a good upgrade to the current turbo, i have read that there only good for like 25 psi for extended periods of time and not much more then that.

The differences between the turbo's isn't nearly as importamt as the packaging differences. There is a lot less room under the hood of the earlier trucks, so the mount pedestal, the downpipe, intake, outlet manifold etc. etc. are all different. Physically, any 7.3 PSD turbo will bolt to any other pedestal, but the packaging becomes the problem.

barebackjake: would you mind posting the details of the swap?

Barebackjake. Yes Please tell. I am not afraid to do a lil work and the BB turbo is cheaper then an h2e.
