Not much of an update, he refused to run against me. After all the talking they did it seems that he was afraid to take the chance on losing to a truck. I did offer the loudest mouth of the debate a ride in the truck ( he said i would lose by atleast 20 lengths) and after going for a ride he said you know what? I think it would be hard to say who would win. I told him no it wouldn't, I already won, he is afraid to run his sports car against an F-250 thats an automatic victory.
my F350 4x4 6.0L crew dually gave a "mean sounding" Trans Am fits in a stop light derby last weekend ... he was quicker by a bit .... now , after I chip and tune ... ol' boy might be in for a surprise
Yeah...I popped a Trans Am at my favorite "lay in wait" red light a couple of weeks ago. You know...two lanes at the light...go thru the light and the road narrows to one lane each way. (The right hand lane at the light is kind of an unmarked right turn lane).
Naturally, like the good person I always am, I get in the left lane so the right turners have continued flow. Low and behold the unsuspecting Trans Am pulls up on my right...eases forward...staring at the light. My eyes start turning red...game on.
By some strange coincidence I just happen to know when that light is going to go green. I switch to 4X4 high, ease forward just a little, pumped the RPM's to about 1200. The noise gets his attention BTW. He gets ready. Green light and off we go. My timing on the light was better and my truck does have a little extra in the pony dept.
Needless to say, he was sucking up deisel for the next mile when the road opens back up to two lanes, on our side, at a stop sign. He lowered his window, smiled, shook his head and gave me a thumbs up. Nice good natured fellow for a change.
Too funny guys. My wife was mad when I started modifying the truck because it now runs like a Mazda RX8 which is the sports car I wanted to buy when I bought my truck instead. She says I got the best of both worlds. A sports "truck" and a pulling truck.
I raced a 2003 f-150 lariat 5.4 crew cab fx4(on right side) in my 03 f-250 lariat 6.0 crew cab fx4(in the middle) he got me off the line but then past him in less than 20ft and a Honda crx (on the left side) with a blow off valve but I dont think he had a turbo and he colud not keep up with either of us.
My 2003 6.0L is almost stock now (I just took the chip out, but I still have the exhaust and intake), and these kids my age (18-20 ish) I noticed were flying up in the left lane of a two laned road. The speed limit here is 45 and I was already going 50 and in the left, so I was like, "you THINK your going to get ahead of me" I nail it, she takes off, exhaust opens up, and I left him so far behind I was laughing to myself. Next light the kids (loaded with like at least three, all gawking with amazement at my truck) pull up next to me (their Ram was a 1500 single cab V8 with all these stickers on it) and were like "WAHO dude, does that thing have nitros in it? What are you running in it ? Cool truck, etc. so I was just like "thanks" light turned green, pounded it in 4X4 high with 15LBS of boost, and they were so long gone again it was REALLY funny. Its amazing what these trucks can do with so little mods. I can't wait to get mt 135HP chip back next week
Great stuff. I had my camper hooked up and came to one of those lights where the right lane ends just after it and it turned red and I was stuck in the right lane. I stopped and this guy in a V6 Ranger pulls up in the left lane. I glanced over and he's messing around with the passenger and lunging forward and goosin it up. I was by myself so the wife wasn't there to pull back the reins and I figured what the heck, either I beat him or I need to get behind him to get over anyhow. So when the light turned green, I punched it. The rear wheels actually spun, nice loud squall with all that weight on them (700 lbs. tongue weight), didn't think I'd need 4x4 so I didn't lock it in. Then off I went and by the time I looked left he was at the front of the trailer and his passenger was laughin and he was a cussin and I was up the hill and through the next light up front. Remember, this truck is all stock and I've weighed the trailer at 5400 lbs. empty. Not really heavy, but still made me swell with pride and the bellow of laughter.... my favorite story so far.
