For the guys on here that have a 56 with a 4-link or 4-bar rear suspension, How long are the bars? I do know the longer the bars the less bind during suspension travel. This truck won't have but 5-6 inches of travel so I was wondering if a 17 1/4 bar would work? thanks
I bought my 4-link kit from "H & H speed and machine". I believe that the bars are 24". I can raise and lower the rear end at least 18" with no bind. I'm very happy with the quality and it was pretty cheap. Take a look at my gallery if you want to see some pics of it.
My initial thought was 24" or at least that is what I bought material for. I was just wondering because I saw a kit with 17 1/4" bars. By the way Svooom good looking frame. We have the same setup except for the motor. I'm going to try to put the 4-link on the inside if I can. We'll see. thanks for the pics!

Thanks Lightningguy428,
I had originally planned on putting the 4-link on the inside of the frame rails but I wanted to use the stock Explorer sway bar and there isn't enough room for everything on the inside so I had to move them out. I still should have plenty of room for a 10" wide wheel so I think I'll be ok.
Are you planning on bagging yours too, or are you going with coilovers? I just got everything in the rear assembled this weekend so I'll update my gallery with the latest pics by the end of the week.
The lower bar on the Mustang is only 17" and that works.
The frame width is 34" and the box is 49" so unless you want to put real wide meats inside a tubbed box, there should be lots of room for the links and bags on the outside of the frame just as Svooom did.
I'm planning on using the Mustang triangulated link arrangement, but I will be extending the bar length to reach the frame at the top and will adjust the bottom length to keep the same ratio of bar lengths.
