sandrat: I live in the heart of the 30,000 islands and visit a friend in Flint who owns a security company there . I sort of liked the Flint,Grand Rapids area as well .
I've lived all over northern and western Canada, and travelled a bit of eastern Canada as well. My preferences lie in the western regions. Drumheller(so long as you can stand country music radio, they have both kinds...country and western ) The Yukon is un-comparable for un-touched beauty. I lived in Jasper, Alberta for 8 yrs, and hiked many trails, as well as drove many cut lines and such around there(out-side the National park, where allowed) with my 69 F-100 4x4. As for BC, Kelowna has to be one of my all time faves. It's not to crowded, and the highways around there for cruising on a sport bike are compareable to none anywhere in north america, with maybe the exception of Deal's Gap.
I live on Thetis Island in the Gulf Islands, quite close to Pender.
I am so jealous. I've had the good fortune to have travelled all over the world, but there's nothing like the San Juan/Gulf Islands anywhere else on the planet.
best scenery around here is the eastern townships... between montreal and the US border... lots of rolling hills, country roads and little farms... but becoming very popular for cottage country
Thank you RR4E, I do think Kelowna is the best spot in Canada and I've lived & travelled many places both east and west.
Thousands of acres of wilderness, a perfect sized city with excellent shopping & restaurants, sandy beaches and clean water, three world-class ski hills (water skiing and snow skiing possible on the same day in the spring) and enough JOBS to make it worth living here before retirement.

I too would have to agree with the Gulf Islands, they are just an awsome place to visit....Maybe one day I can live there. Right now I live in Central B.C.....beautiful scenery, 4 seasons, and lakes to fish on all over the place.
I put up some pictures on my page; the area, if you have a map, is between Rocky Mountain House and Cochrane. Roughly a 250 - 300 km road that winds through the mountains. I camp in this area quite often, or as often as I can. the pics are on My page
Sorry about the links and size of the thumbnail files. I made some small thumbnails but they didn't link up properly.
