From what I understand Ford introduced fuel injection on the 1990 models. In order to put the factory FI system on an older motor, you'll need the heads, intake, throttle body, computer, cam, high pressure fuel pump and in tank fuel pumps and wiring harness. I believe you'll also need all the sensors that the computer needs to compute the correct fuel mix, and timing. I think it would be easier if you could pick up a complete truck to rob all the parts needed.

My 1988 F250 has a fuel injected 460. I believe they went to FI in 1987.

302's went EFI for the 86 model and 351Ws/460s went EFI for the 88 model....My buddy's 87 F150 has a carbed Windsor while my ex-g/f's dad had an EFI 460 in '88, so I'm pretty sure these are accurate

You are correct scottie. Ford went to EFI in 1988 for the 460. In 86 and 87, 460's had carbs with low pressure electric fuel pumps.

My Bad. I was thinking of the E4OD that came in in 90. Thanks for the correction.

The E4OD actually came in in 89...
The 351W went EFI in mid 87(I have seen EFI and carbed 87's), the 460, I have some stuff that says mid 87, other that says 88 model year. But, 88 was definate, The engine in my 86 is an 88 EFI unit with the '86 carb heads. To use a factory EFI intake, you pretty much need to use heads off of an EFI engine. Doing that will net you a loss in compression ratio however. You'd probably have considerably less of a heacache if you can locate a complete EFI 460, or an aftermarket EFI intake to work with the stock throttle body and fuel rails(I know they're out there)

It may be different for Canada/US though....not sure but I have seen this before. However, I agree that you'd be better off finding a complete EFI motor because pretty much everything except the block, crank, and pistons is different.
