370 intake on 460
I am not too familiar with the 370, or too much with the "385 series" motor either. However, considering they are in the same engine family, I would have to say it would be a doable swap. What is it you are trying to accomplish with this? If you like, check in with the "385 series" engine forum guys a few lines down the board...

Thank's for the quick reply. I am trying to rebuild a 460 with a 4 barrels carb, using a 370 intake for 2 barrels carb. the only difference seems to be the intake pan gasket.

Remember, EVERY 4 bbl carb is really just a 2 bbl cab until the secondaries kick in. The timing of the secondaries coming on can be adjusted or even removed from the circuit.
Changing to an intake not designed for this engine may have all sorts of negative effects...... bog, stumbe, bucking, and low power just to name a few. Also, there's water passages in the 460 mainiforld. If the other manifold doesn't move the water, you'll be creating hot spots in your heads.
If you're doing this to improve gas mileage.... It may be an excercise in futility. You'd be better off keeping the engine well tuned, and keep a light foot on the throttle.
Assuming better gas mileage is your goal, one of the many watys to do that is by swapping your rear gears. If you have a 4.10 or 3.54 now, go to a 3.73 or a 3.10. You won't be able to haul/tow as much, but you'll see beter gas mileage.
Hope this helps,
John
It's a friend that is rebuilding a motor and, I think that he is doing it that way because that is the parts that he has. That motor is going in a dump truck, maybe that is why he is not that concern about performance. But I am since I always wander what is the difference between a 2 and 4 barrels carb beside the gas bill. Oviously I am no mecanic, just a beginner with lots of interest and questions but little technical know how.
