Welding can be fun and making projects is much better than watching sports on TV and getting drunk. I have yet to see a Sports Fan ever get true satisfaction from watching a game. Take a piece of metal and fabricate it into a usefull tool, car, sandbuggy, BBQ's, farm implement, spaceship, gift for your wife, hotrod, product to market with your name on it !!! THAT'S COOL
.
I agree - most of my welding consisted of fabrication on heavy equipment and repair. There would be the occasional design and building of a new tool. My welding has been exclusively stick. Much of the work would be in the field or out in the yard where the bull dozers wouold be. My welds had to be stroung and durable - especialll when I would be welding hydraulic cylciner rams back together.
I am looking around - getting my home work done before I make a purchase. I like to be an informed shopper and this is as good a place as any to get the information I need - and then some.
Thanks
by the way - excuse any typos for a while. I am using my new lap top in my patrol car and I am a little cram, ped in here...
ALSO !!!! As for New Welding Machines. All the major brands have Factory Reps in all areas of the USA.
You can speak to these reps by asking your local Welding Distributor for the name and phone number of that Rep.
I would speak to the Local Factory Reps before buying. You will probaly spend $3,000-$5,000.00 and you need to be happy about these tools you buy that will last you for a couple of generations.
Miller and Hypetherm make real good PLASMA CUTTERS TOO !!!!!
Also you can ask them for Demoed units that are a little scratched with the same Three Year warranty as a new one in the box.
Also make sure you have enough 220VAC power to meet the AMP demands of each Welding Machine. Amp draw is on each machine. You don't want to "OVERLOAD" your Circuit Breakers
Welding has always been good to me !!!!!!!!!!

Well I have a 04 F250 SC w/ 8 inches of life and 37 SS's on it. 3 inch after cat exhaust, Super chip, 4.88's in the diff's, XM sat radio. I offerfed to drive it during the recent hurricanes if they would pay for the gas...
Now if I could just convince them to let me drive my boat and start a marine unit - then I would have something.
