TSB Info Wanted:

Anyone have any knowledge of a TSB dated 11/10/04, and related to solving problems with slip-yoke of manual shift Rangers (2002 in particular) ???
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
"Supposedly", this references some "new" type of grease, and possibly some slip-yoke related parts, and instructions for use/installation of same. ???

Have posted here in past with reference to woes experenced with sloppy tolerances in drivetrain of my 2002 Ranger 4X4. Been in shop several times under warranty for problem, with no proper resolution to date. Warranty running out soon, so requested meeting and test drive by Regional Service Rep. He now wants them to try the new TSB procedures first, so I'm trying to find out what is involved, etc.
Thanks.

Don't know about that particular TSB, seems it would be hot off the press with that recent of a date, but I'm wondering if it refers to the same "Molykote" grease that can be found Here in TSB 03-26-2.

Rockledge,
Thanks for all the good info that you provide on this forum. I appreciate it.
I believe that my driveshaft problem (if indeed it IS the driveshaft) is a little different from the "clunk on take-off" sometimes reported in extended cab Rangers. Mine isn't at take-off, but occurs "sometimes" during upshifts, "frequently" during downshifts, and "almost every time" if you were to let off the accelerator momentarily and then re-apply acceleration. If you were driving it, you would say something like, "Man, that sorta sucks! Are all Rangers that junky sounding?" It's annoying and embarrassing as all heck; makes it seem as though the driver is unfamiliar with driving a manual shift.
Anyway, the local stealership ordered and received something called a "Kit, parts", which is "supposed" to be the cure, according to the TSB of which I inquired. When questioned, the Service Manager did not know what was included in the "Kit, parts", other than he "thought" it was some special grease. If that's all it is, then I shall remain skeptical until and unless proof is provided through experience to the contrary.
Personally, I suspect that to remedy the earlier Ranger's "clunk on take-off" problems, FoMoCo increased tolerances within the slip-yoke. And that those increased tolerances have now produced this new problem. It is quite apparent that a reduction of clearances would reduce the problem (as heavily packing the slip-yoke with grease seems to reduce the noise, though not totally eliminate it. Something in the back of my feeble mind says that there is some transfer-case chain slop responsible for a small portion of it). Now, whether said reduction of clearances would thus result in some other problem is of a questionable nature. Who knows, unless they try it? Seriously doubt that I'm gonna get a re-machined splined shaft outa Ford however, warranty notwithstanding. Dern shame they won't just acknowledge the problem and its cause, and then provide an actual fix instead of band-aiding it....
Anyway, thanks again for your excellent information. You are an asset to this forum. I shall try to post the outcome of this latest TSB, as my appointment for said repair is tomorrow.
Warranty runs out soon. This truck has been in shop multiple times for this problem. If this doesn't cure it, I fear things are gonna get a little more ugly.
(Several times a part of me has been tempted to hammer it hard enough and long enough until something gives, then let'em fix it. But I know the tranny would probably scatter before the slip-yoke or driveshaft would.)
