I have been trying to get my truck running for months. The latest problem was noticed a rusted out air line while under it. I pulled it off and brought it to the Ford dealership. Not only can they not get it but they can't even give me a name for it or a place that i can get it. On my 95, 5.8l it is a tube that runs from the O2 pump to the throttle body. there is another tube that it attached to it that run from the top of the engine down behind it next to the firewall. i will post a pic later. Anyone know what this is or where i could get one? thanks-jon
By any chance was your truck bought new in Canada? I am not sure it would make a difference but from your location I thought it may apply. It may not match the parts list in the US.
I am not uptight about this just wanted to keep it at the top of the page in order to catch more people's eyes. Thanks for the help. I will look into MTA suggestion and let you guys know.
--John, imo, you need to visit another dealer or find a competent parts counter person. All of the parts manuals have a large illustration listing for hard to find, uncommon, or strangely listed parts. As for the specific part name, ive been in the automotive field for a very long time and still dont know all of the part names for each and every part on a vehicle. Some pipes are called hoses, hoses called tubes, tubes called couduit, etc. You shouldnt have to know the specific name, all the parts counterman needs to know is it is the pipe that supplies filtered air to the air pump.
I have had a lot of trouble with bad Ford Parts people. As soon as you say the year model of your truck either they can find anything or the prices go through the roof. I think if you can find a good parts man you won't have any problems with this. Or just go to a junkyard.
The problem is the same company owns all the area Ford dealerships. I don't know what to do. The closest junkyard is over an hour away and there is no guarentee that they would have this truck anyway. I would love to us the online junkyard but I DONT KNOW WHAT TO CALL this thing. Would it be alright to replace these with rubber tubing? Any websites that could help? If so....email at my username at yahoo.com. Thanks guys.

--john, they own all of the ford dealerships????? What is the name outfront, aol/timer warner or fox? Just go back in and find a different parts guy. Parts guys work on commission. Some tend to blow people off if they dont think they will make over 50 cents on selling a part. Sit with the parts guy and scroll through the illustrations for the air system with him untill you find that inlet pipe. If he cant get his manager.
My only other suggesting would be search the pipe to see if it has a part number stamped in it. Either that or call a dealer that is out of your area and get the part number over the phone. Then you could provide it to your local dealer and take the work out of their hand. Imo, if you are forced to go that route you should take the money out of their hand also.
