Anyone tell me where I can find the code repair info? I get a 543, which is a 2dery fuel pump circuit fault. But I do not have any way to follow up on this like what is involved in toubleshooting from that point on. My haynes/chilton doesn't coveer teh various codes.
I have the 88 book, not sure what year you have. Does the pump run for a few seconds when you turn the key? Have you checked the inertia switch? The relay? What problems are you having?
Ken, I ve got what appears to be a common problem on a 94 4.0. Starts and then stumbles will not accell and dies. Let it sit for a while and it will start right up like nothing happened. Yesterday I had to be towed home and it sat for about 2-3 hours then started. Today no probs. Just picked up a fuel pressure gauge from sears will check it tomorrow. Only code I have is the one described above.
Ken checked the fuel pump and it is OK about 38 psi koeo, 32 koer.
Did pick up a bad o2 sensor reading (lean) so that may explain the intermittent check engine light ive been getting. Didn't get anything on the 2dery fuel pump circuit this time!
Guess i get to buy 2 sensors this weekend for install.
One strange engine running was that it beeped about 8 times and there ain't no code for that, so I dont know whats happening there.
Where did ya find the codes and how to check them out? I got the ones from ya on the RABS and they worked good. Do ya got the rest scanned also?:P
The KOER pressure might be a little low, I don't have my book with me to check. I do have the pinpoint tests in my 88 Ford manual, the manual has everything, and I have another source too. If you would like the tests email me and I will scan them if I doon't have them done. There are other causes for lean codes other than a bad O2.
