thanks, i unpluged the sensor on the head got the diff. idle. Is the ipr valve sensor right above the valve itself? If so i unpluged it and the truck died. maybe then the valve? Can they be cleaned?
The sensor on the head is the ICP. What did you mean by "got the diff. idle"? Did you check the pressure while you had the ICP disconnected?
That probably means that the ICP sensor is bad, or the plug, or the wiring. What happens when you unplug the ICP is that the PCM commands a default pressure setting from the pump, which would suggest that the IPR is responding correctly.
Have you done any maintenence to the HPO system recently? There could be air trapped in the oil rail in the head that's messing with the sensor.
When i unpluged the sensor on the head it almost sounded like a louder knock or rattle and it seemed to idle down just a bit more? Does that mean that the sensor is bad? It then kicked on the SES light but it will. Only thing ive done is changed the oil recently Rotella 1540.
well, i got pressure readings at cold start 700 psi at idle. truck runs perfect. After driven and oil temp comes up to operating specs is when the pressure drops to 450 to 500 at idle and the truck begins to run poorly. I went and bought an ipr valve O ring kit,31$ it seems to be the cheapest and easy thing to try first. Only other thing i noticed was IAT was only showing 21'c to 28'C, at normal operating temp? Should it be higher?
