Upper Radiator Hose Too Long?

Upper Radiator Hose Too Long?
Can someone tell me how the upper hose should look going from the engine(300)to the radiator? Mine goes up for awhile and then back down into the radiator. The bend is above the filler cap which would mean that the bend is filled with air all the time and thats why my heater doesn't work good. So is this bend suppose to be there or do I need to trim my hose a little? Thanks

Likely the heater isn't working because the valve is stuck shut, or the heater core is plugged. If you're worried about air in the hose, have someone sit in the truck, while it's running, and rev it to about 1200 rpm while you top off the radiator. The increased flow and pressure should allow the air to be removed.
