tag help please
just wondering if anyone can inturpret the tags for my 1986 ford f150 lariat 4x4 there were no tags on the rear but the front has 3 54 ^ e6ta ca ^ 610251-3 there is no legiable numbers or letters on the door tag took the rear end appart counted 39 and 11 teeth! need to get a new rear end and I dont want to get the wrong one any help would be greatly appreciated

The rearend ratio is 3.55, and should be a 31-spline Ford 8.8". The easy way to tell is if you removed the cover off of the back of the axle, it's an 8.8". The 9" axle has no removeable plate, as the whole carrier comes out thru the front side. (Most 4wd F150's after 1982 have the 8.8, but some up to 86 have the Ford 9".) I could not find the 6+1 digit number in the Spicer catalog, could you re -read the #'s with a magnafying glass.
As for the rear, 39 divided by 11= 3.5454545, rounded out to 3.55
Justshootme84 is correct in describing an 8.8" and a 9" axle.
