i just bought a 2001 ranger supercab regular short bed and was lookin for a drop in bed liner..anyone know where i can find a descent cheap one...or make deal if your selling one..thanks
They cost a little more, but I would opt for the spray in. The drop in plastic liners are terrbile, your cargo slides all over the place. If you do opt for the plastic drop in, may I suggest a rubber floor mat and possibly even a bed tender. I have a plastic liner in my '95 and hate it, I will never own another one. Just my $.02
I'd go with a spray on bed liner. You can do it yourself for about 30 bucks with a product like Gator Guard. Or pay someone to do it.
The problem with bed liner's is that water tends to get in under the liner itself and sit there causing your bed to deteriorate badly over time. Most spray on liners act like an undercoating, sealing the metal off from any oxygen, therefor eliminating rust from being formed.
There is a product along the lines of "Tough Liner" or something of the sort for about $40 depending on where you find it. Bit if you are set on a drop-in your local Ford dealer is running specials on Drop-ins for $199.95 Or at least they are here in So Cal. I am sure if you ask they will give you an estimate on one. Other than that the best price I have heard of yet for a professionally installed Rhino-Liner is about $75-$150. Good luck and let me know what you find coz I am interested in a spray-in for my new Edge.
The type of bedliner depends on what you are going to carry in the back. I agree with the guys on the spray on liner, it does stop things sliding around and if thats a concern thats the way to go. In my case I opted for the Duraliner drop in plastic because I have a topper on and wanted to be able to slide in my toolboxes and other heavier stuff when we go racing. Before I put the liner in I went to the local hardware store and bought a couple of different types of brackets which I fastened to the liner to allow me to use bungy cords and/or rope to secure my stuff once it was in there and they worked out great. Other thing with the Duraliner.......I can take it out, once the sprays on thats it.
I own a '99 Ranger XLT Flareside with the short bed. My truck came with the bedliner. Its the Ford Duraliner, you may consider contacting your local Ford dealer for a cost.
I have a 97" ranger, and opted to get rhino lining when I bought it. Bit pricey, but the quality is a lot better then a drop in liner, goes a long way when you fill up on loads of sand, gravel, and such
Bedliners often let condensation and other moisture build up between the liner and the bed and cause rust. I used a spray-in liner and have never been sorry. Line-X got my business after I did a lot of research. Best guarantee too.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 02-May-02 AT 01:54 AM (EST)]I am going to second or third teh ida of Line-x. I have one in my truck and throw in stuff all the time. I did manage to sand off some of the line-x (put a quad through the back window, crappy tie-downs broke). Even after all that it was at most the size of a pencil eraser. I took it back to the place I had it put in and the guys hand applied a small piece of the good and you cnat tell where the damage was.
Highly recomended
