accelerator sending unit

My 2000 F250 powerstroke will sometimes not respond when i press the accelerator while at stop... if i shift into neutral and then back to drive or if i feather the accelerator it will respond... I have been told that I have a bad sending unit ... how much for a new sending unit and is it something that an average handyman can install ... where is it located ?

From: Rio Rico, AZ.
It's the whole pedal assembly. Two electrical plugs, three bolts and it's out in your hand.

Yep. The throttle position switch and idle validation switch can be removed from the pedal assembly, but can not be purchased seperately. So much the pity.

The pedal assy runs around $125 last I heard.
