i own a 2004 f150 supercab xlt with a 5.4 with about 200 miles almost 3 weeks old. when i hit bumps in the road i hear a rattle from the back i think its from the back window ? its driven me crazy cause i cant find it !!! please help me!!
It might be your back window. Thats what I thought it was for me, but turnes out the passeger side seat belt where it clips onto the panel was the one making all the rattling! See if it's your back seat belt where it connects to the panel causing it to rub and rattle againest the hard plaistc there. Let me know. ~Matt
thanks for the info but i tried that i sounds like its on the drivers side i had someone hold the manual slider window and had it opeden or closed same thing i am not even sure if its the window i no its back there
Ihave something going on back there too.Rattle somewhere.Tryed the seat belt thing.Think that might have been it. Got to try a more bumpy road and will when I go in to work tomorrow.Had no rattles at all for the first 17000 miles.Hardly ever carry anyone in the back seat but did so about a week ago and it seems like the rattle started after that.Mabey when they used the seat belts it somehow got loose at the top where it hooks on to the trim.Beats the heck out of me.After tommorow I should know for sure.
04 blk screw 4x4 lariat, same here and its going in tomarrow to get fixed i hope. they told me that it is in the back seat, they had put a vibration patch back there when i bought it. 12,500 miles and its back, not all the time. sometimes its not there and other times its loud as heck.i'll let you know if they get it this time. they say the rear seat back is a tough one to get off to.
For those people who have the powered rear slider, there is a TSB out for a window rattle. Mine was driving me nuts last weekend, so I did a check to see if this is a know problem. Turns out it is. It's been pretty humid here the past couple of days, and the rattle hasn't been back.
I started poking around on Saturday, and found that the top of the slider is the culprit. I could push on it and re-create the rattle...Back to the dealer I guess...
I found my rattle. Its in the passanger side rear door of my SCAB. I found it when I was Dynamatting my doors. The sheet metal on the inside of the door, which butts up against the door panel has a lot of flex in it. I pulled the speaker out and pinched the lower right corner of the speaker hole with my fingers and gently pushed in and out. The metal of the door only moved a quarter of an inch in and out, but each time I did it you could hear a loud metal on metal pop.
I felt around on the inside of the door and found the two parts that were hitting. The trouble was that I couldn't see inside the door. I know its the inside metal door panel flexing in and out hitting either the window motor or the window rails.
After I found it I dynamatted the doors and put it all back together hoping I wouldn't hear it and more. It's still there. After every little bump I hear it popping in and out. I checked the other door and it didn't do it for some reason.
My backseat rattle was seatbelt at the very top where it goes up and over the bracket. The bracket cover is loose and I just took some fabrick and put under it so it wou not hit the side panel molding.
the dealer has my truck now for 2 days they cant here any rattle so they did nothing . they told me they cant look in the headliner cause they wont get paid for exploring . how about that for $34000 . i guess i have to poke around a little more or i have to wear ear plugs. the thing i really hate is that i have to waste my time and possibly break something and have to repair it anyway . the shame of it is that i love the truck oh ill keep ya posted
got my truck back from the dealer, they said it is the back window and they had to order a new seal for it. but they did pull my back seat out to check there and when they did, they scratched both sides of the black plastic trim. now i have 2 white scratches that you can see when you open the door. i hate that they can't be careful with some elses stuff. you spend 35,000.00 on something they shouldn't have to fix anything for at least 5 years or its paid off.
