i decided to go with the some headers and put true duals for better performance/mileage but im debating on flowmasters or dynomax bullets, rite now i have 3 " into flow then dual 3" out and its pretty loud so putting headers on is gona make her real loud! i did this on my old chev on a 454 with hooker headers dual glasspacks and dumped before the wheels it was louder then harleys with straight pipes!! i ended up putting flowies on it after that did make it alot quieter but with the glasspacks it was really deep. But anyways back to the ford my trucks a 97 EFI. I found hedman headers for my truck then wana do true duals both down the passenger side out behind both wheels at the back i also wana do a X pipe would a X pipe make it louder? quieter? also i rather go with bullets then flowmasters but i no its gona be to loud.. if anyone has done a similiar setup on there BB plz let me no. I was thinkin of doubling up 2 bullets on each side, should still be nice and loud rite? thanx for any replys
Im running a set of headers, flowmasters, and 2 1/2 inch pipes on my 460. I have dual pipes that run straight out the back. Mine is loud enough to sound realy good, but quiet enough not to attract the wrong type of attention.
3 inch to hooker aero-chamber or single chamber slowmasters, if you dump the cats you will get the most sound, and depending on what muffler setup you go with I would go either H or X pipe. Chambered mufflers such as flows need a H pipe, straight through such as race bullets need an X pipe.
I'm running Flowmasters on my truck with no H or X pipe. What is the advantage of having one, and which one is best for a 460 with headers, 2 1/2" pipes and 40 series flowmasters?
thanx for all the replys guys, i forgot to mention that i do have one bullet on my car its a 01 trans am i took the cats out but it still has manifolds was straight pipe but it was really raspy but the bullet in and its still nice and loud but deep tone! sounds perfect but i was thinkin with a big block with headers is gona be twice as loud. Also the truck has no cats.
Saurian - u mentioned a tunable muffler?? that would work good for my set up.. but who makes a tunable muffler??
I have L&L headers on my 1994 460 and really like them. The rest of the exhaust is 2 1/2" duals, H-pipe, no cats, and Flowmaster 50 series delta flow mufflers. I really like this setup. The L&L's are worth the money. The truck isn't overly loud when driving down the highway, but when you get on it it has a deep rumble that will turn heads(and set car alarms off). There are pictures of it here. http://community.webshots.com/user/kevinrf250 Hope this helps.
