Are the US Radiator tanks the same as the original? I also noticed in the radiator picture above the top inlet is on the passenger side. The original is in the center. Is this just a mistake in the picture, or are they actually made with the inlet on the wrong side? If anyone has a recommendation for a radiator manufacturer who makes a higher quality, 100% correct, radiator than US Radiator, please let me know. I am looking to buy the radiator today.
Their catalog shows the straight 6 radiator for your truck #91230 as having a center inlet, like so:
I called US Radiator. The assistant said the picture is right (I have the original 1960 radiator and it has a center inlet). A local shop will re-core the radiator with the original 2-core flat fin core, but at the cost of $385 (before tank repair). The 6-cyl radiator has the outlet on the wrong side (should be on the driver's side for V-8 models). Concourse has a radiator listed for my truck, but with a picture of some aftermarket (universal) radiator shown. I will give them a call this week and see what they have to offer.
You might try Blue Oval Truck Parts, http://blueovaltruckparts.com/ , They have radiators for V-8 applications, starting at $275.00 for standard duty, for heavy duty, add $30.00, and "desert cooling" add $60.00. Choose inlet and outlet locations, and manual or automatic trans. Just another option, I hope it helps.
