56 radiator replacement?
Hey guys, its time for me to start looking for a radiator for my 56. Ran across a deal on a stout 351w out of a nascar showcar so I'm going to need a good hd radiator. I plan to use an electric fan setup. Is there one that I can find from a donor vehicle that will do the job, needs to have a trans cooler for the AOD or Will I have to buy a new unit, Any suggestions would be a big help. Thanks

I put a MODINE #395 in my 56, got it new from a radiator shop for about $170. I had to drill two holes, other than that it fit like it belonged there. I have a 302 with a tranny cooler seperate out in front of the rad. Should check with the rad shop to see if is enough cooling for your application.

Learpilot, got your message but your settings do not allow me to email you. The Modine fit in my 56 like a glove, it does not look stock. but sure is NOT too tall. Would you like me to measure it and post the measurements?

You might try Blue Oval Truck Parts, http://blueovaltruckparts.com/ , They have radiators for V-8 applications, starting at $250.00 for standard duty, for heavy duty, add $30.00, and "desert cooling" add $60.00. Choose inlet and outlet locations, and manual or automatic trans. Just another option, I hope it helps.
