I am looking for new window seals and felt for my 1986 f150 truck.
Looked at JC Whitney and there seals just dont look like they will match.
Has anyone replaced there seals if so who, what, where did you find the right match.
My '83 F-150 is missing the stripping around the glass too. Also, the glass is scratched from dog claws. Here's an idea:
I still have a 1984 F-150. I have switched alot of parts onto this new ('83) truck with success. I considered swapping the entire door assembly because the glass and all trim is in good shape on the '84. But, since I cant afford a paint job for awhile, I'd have a bizarre color combo going here.
I've found stripping prices around $130 per door, not including the glass replacement. Is this about right?
After calling JC W. 3 times and finally getting ahold of someone that wants to help me nicely and not treat me as though I am totaly stupid or waisting their time I finally found the window seal that apears to match.
It just erkcs me that people will not take the time to help others nicely in order to insure a sale or guidence towards a future sale for their company. After all it is a part of their paycheck.
Oh well If it works this set will cost me about $20.00 per window plus the extra profit toward the shipping they charge for the 2 rubber strips.
I should be getting these within a week or so and will let you know if I can here you or even my radio as I drive down the highway.
My 86 had NO weatherstripping around the drivers window. I replaced it and even though it was difficult, it made a 150% improvement in how quiet it was. I didn't like JC Whitney reps as well. They treat you like a moron and act like you're disturbing them by calling. I got a catalog from them a few years ago and if you don't order from them, they cancel your subscription. They even tell you that you better order from them soon or they will cancel......that's great customer service!
I personally never liked JCW. They totally lack well-mannered customer service. Plus, it takes forever to receive your order, especially if it's shipped directly from the manufacturer.
I order everything for my old trucks from LMC. I get their catalogs and place orders for what I need at the time. It's pricey, but I'd pay an extra dollar or two for nice people on the other end of the phone.
