hello i was just wondering on my friends ranger it says stx he doesnt know why or what it stands for we fingured it is some kind of off road /heavy duty package but we could be wrong if anyone knows please let me know

Normally thought to be "Sport Truck". It depends on the model year what came with STX. Some years it was a trim level like XL and XLT and other years, there were actual parts included on STX, like higher ride height or bigger shocks. Then F-Series took the name away from Ranger so Ranger came up with FX4. Then F-Series took that name away from Ranger (shares the name actually).

 

it is a 90' ford ranger with the 4.0 5 speed 4x4 extended cab

so what does stx on that year mean ???

we got some realy cool tsl thorn birds for the truck and it is getting a 3 inch body lift just because he cant afford a suspension lift at the moment. it is gonna look pretty cool

Maybe it means (Sport Truck X-country) or something? STXs are supposed to have extra off road goodies. Probably stiffer suspension and different differential in the rear for better traction....

This question has been brought up before, From what I've heard it is the stx badging, the rear height stays the same, upgraded shocks front/rear, the upgraded shocks level the front with the rear, and the interior has bucket seats standard.

Just from what iv'e heard. I could be wrong. I'm quite sure there's a website that will give you the accurate info. keep surfin, you'll find it!

 

It means Sports Truck and it is a package arrangement dealing with suspension upgrades and exterior body styling. Mine is a 91' w/black trim all around...grill, bumpers, mirrors,and windshield trim. There is also a rather large decal running full length of vehicle w/STX on the lower portion of drivers door. The suspension upgrades are minor shocks are a tad bit stiffer and I believe there was also a sway bar in that package as well. Mine is a 3.0L, 5spd STX supercab, 3.73 rear w/limited slip and captain seats.

I'm With RangerDJB, My '87 came with a tubular rear bumper, rollbar, Grillgaurd and front bumper that were all black. High rider package, Heavy duty suspenion, limited slip, 3.73's, skidplates, 3 thick decals down the side, 2piece grill(chrome outer ring charcoal inner), full upolstered door panels, and deluxe bucket seats.

 

 

Sports Truck with eXtras, mine came with upgraded stereo, round fog lights, colored bumper, hitch built on rear bumper, 17" rims, and something with the shocks i think they are better.
