'89 cluster wiring
How do the guages work in a '89 F150? I have a cluster from a '89 F150 that I'm considering mounting into an older truck ('73) but I'm not sure of how the guages work. Most guages I've used have 2 terminals - power in and out with the guage reading the resistance in the wire as the sending unit varies the ground. Is this how the '89 works too? I noticed each guage in the cluster has 3 terminals, how do these work? Would it be easy to switch my '73 over to the '89 system? I'm not concerned with running wires or changing the dash - just need to know how the guages work...
