First I have never heard of a 390 "Cobra Jet". There were 390 High Performance engines that I have seen. I'm not sure if they are the same as what is called a Side Oiler which had I think 4 bolt mains and solid lifters. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong on any of this and speak up for the "Cobra Jet".
To answer your question I would say yes. The parts as well as most other parts should be direct bolt-ons. The 390 is only a part of what is known as the FE family of engines. It all started with the 352 in the late 50s. Then came the 390, the 428, and last the 360. All are good dependable engines. I used to have a 390 when I was a kid that I basically could not blow. It leaked oil and I supplied it with plenty of used motor oil from a local garage. I even raced another car with the oil level so low that the oil light would come on gassing and braking due to the quart or so in the pan moving away from the sump. Won the race and heard the lifters talking. As a reward I treated the engine to 2 quarts of Havoline at the next gas station. The 65 Galaxie was still running fine when I sold the car for $400. The FEs will leak and use oil but like the 300 six are virtually bullet proof.. Hope this helps
As previously stated, the 390 manifold will bolt on to your 352. If you want to drop in with the crew on the "FE" engine board, they are a great bunch. And the "Cobra Jet" designation was not used when referencing a 390... If you have a casting number, like C8...., then maybe we can even add a few more $.01's to the pot.
The "Cobra Jet" I Beleave referred to the 428 mustangs, the 4 bolt main, side oiler engines were the 427's. The first "FE" a 332 did have solid lifters. GregTrucks is more than right about leaking oil.
