Missing frills

I keep reading about Ford's cost-cutting tricks on the Super Dutys and was thinking about maybe adding back a few of the frills they got rid of on my 2004 F250 Lariat. The things Ford removed that I know of:

hood insulation
glove box light
door marker lights
rear fender well shields
double sun visors

Any others? I think I'd like to have the hood insulation and lights. The rest I don't care about. I saw a part number of YC3Z-16738-AA for the insulation...sound right? Anyone have part numbers for the glove box and marker lights?

I wondered about getting the hood insulation too for my 2005. Anyone know how much it costs and if would it cut down on noise a bit?
It would also be nice to have fender liners it they are available.

There is also no under hood light anymore on the 04 Excursion. I'm guessing its the same for the super-duty's. I would really like to have that put back in. Any idea as far as part numbers/prices??

My 2004 F250 has the under hood light. No insulation, though.

So that means I should be able to order the F250 part to put into the X, right? I'll take a look into that..

The double sun visors are a great thing to have. I have missed them since I traded my S-10 years ago, but didn't know you could get something to add them that would match well. Also, I have a 2004 F-250 Lariat with everything and NO light under the hood. Crazy ain't it? 40 grand and couldn't even get a little light- or insulation (fire blanket really) or gauges (not indicator lights in disguise) ugh.

Yeah...it seems as though Ford is getting really good at "What won't they notice missing on the rig until they get it home??" I mean really...can it be that tough to provide some convenience lighting...expecially on vehicles that we are spending 40-50 grand on??? And do something constructive with the stupid trash bag holder Ford!! Love the trucks, wish they would pay attention to the users.

Unhappy

My 05 F350 has the underhood light. Checked with the Ford parts department today and they said that the hood insulation and fender liners are not available as a part to order.

I noticed the lack of fender liners on the 05 that I looked at ...thought it looked cheap , and not too bright for a truck that will see some barnyard farm work ... looks like a great "salt catching" area , too ..........

The under hood liner and rear fender liners are available. I put back curtesy light power into all four doors and had to do some creative fabrication to get lights in the rear doors as they never had the lights. On the front doors it was easy because there was a light pocket already. The double visor is available also. Glove box light is missing the wires as was the front doors but I ran a constant hot from the back of the power point and reintsalled Ford light and switch. Found a auto down module from Pony Performance parts and added auto down to the front passenger window that also works from the drivers door. These and many other "convenience" mods are all fully documented here and at the diesel site.

Sorry for not posting the part numbers but don't have them in front of me as they are at my office. I will not be back there for 2 weeks. The hood blanket was about $125 and the 4 rear fender skirts were $75 or so. My son got the double visors for me from a wrecking yard but think they should be under $200 (yes pricy but original Ford parts always are)

Check on my name and look at all posts to see if you can find the thread on the hood liner and fender skirts. I am sure I put in the part numbers in the past. You will find that there is no search function on this site rigth now but there are creative ways to find what you need.

Fredvon4, I found your old post about the fender liners and hood insulation that you had installed for $275.00. There was no mention of part numbers. If you have them somewhere I would appreciate a post.
Do you think adding these parts was worthwhile now that you have driven with them for a while?
Thanks

You could probably not notice any difference with or without the under hood liner but the rear inner fender pieces are a must. They block a LOT of sand and mud and kee it all confined to the direct wheel well area and it is much easier to clean up with them in place. A POX on Ford for cheap charlie in this area! Let me do some cruising around for the numbers on the other site and I will post here what I find a little later.

These notes are from the other site and I do not have my numbers as stated befor so can't verify if these are the numbers I used but they seem correct to my old fuddled mind.

Here are the part #'s you will need 2 of each

F81Z-9928370-AA
F81Z-9928370-CA
And 4 plastic push-ins

3C3Z-16738-BD listed for the blanket and N808842-S for the plastic snaps that hold it on

Fred on edit; The under hood liner uses 16 plastic push pins and they come in bags of 4 so you will need four bags.
