I don't see where they sit any higher at all. The plow prep package is simply stiffer springs and their highest-rated front axle (GAWR-wise). The stiffer springs don't cause the truck to sit any higher; otherwise, Ford would list 2 different heights on their "dimensions" page in the brochure.
The axles are the same (Dana 60). You're right about the springs being stiffer (higher rate). Discussions on here at different times about bigger tires and the plow prep springs on '04 and earlier trucks resulted in some owners claiming that the plow trucks do sit a *little* higher in the front when unloaded. This is only what I have observed reading the forums, but it does make sense to me. If I were to put diesel front springs on my gas engine truck, the front end would sit a little higher, since the springs are designed to support more weight but the additional weight isn't there to be supported, which would cause the springs not to sag as far. The plow springs are designed to support more weight. Without the plow, I can see the truck being higher.

have an 01. waiting on build date for 05. plow package makes the front sit 2-3" higher. with the 250 front sits higher unless you use the bigger 350 blocks in back thensits nice and level. this is the differenc why some stock trucks sit higher than others.
I agree with bee. My 03 F250 sits at least 2" higher in front than a standard F250. The truck is slighly uphill with the V8. I would guess perfectly level with 6.0 or V10.
That is what I was thinking. I ordered mine with the snow plow prep, just in case I ever want to put a plow on (not too many big snows here) I also figured it would sit a little higher in front which would allow for more clearance on larger tires and wheels and should be a little closer to level when not hauling a load.
