My truck runs great 99% of the time, i do get the ocasional surge at idle, i now have 17k miles on it and the best mpg i get is 13.5 to 14with light load or empty, this is highway or city.
Started towing a 24' enclosed car hauler about 7000 lbs and get 9mpg all highway driving.
the truck is an 04 cc srw 6.0 lariat.
i used to have a 97 cc srw 7.3 xlt that got 19 on the highway and 14 in city driving.
Love the truck but the mpg's are driving me crazy.
Any sugestions?
What type of tires and how fast do you drive? I run the stock tires in the summer- When I tow a 7,400 lb boat, I generally go 70 mph and get 11.5-13 mpg although I get passed frequently by folks pulling bigger boats with similar trucks that are definately working hard... And probably getting very poor mileage.
I average 15.4 mpg combined highway/city summer unloaded. Highway roadtrips 17-18 mpg at 75-85 mph. The combined average drops to 13.5-14 when I put on the studded snow tires. When I switched to synthetic oil, my mpg increased about .5 mpg unloaded and almost 1 mpg towing (not looking to start an oil war).
03 6.0 CC with 41,438 miles.
I have mine totally stock with the Predator in 65HP mode, I get 15-16 mixed driving. I just got the new flash about a week ago and am running totally stock. I want to see what the mileage is stock before I reload the Predator.

I'm all stock with no egr 70 to 75 mph factory tires with 65 psi all around (rear tires wear faster at 85 psi) Light foot lately, tow work trailers only on Saturday's.
My 04 SWD CC also tows #7000 of enclosed car trailer and my mileage is 11 with the trailer, 15 in town and 17/18 on the road empty. It's all stock except for the Gibson exhaust. 70 is the max I will tow, 65 is my normal speed. With 13,000 total weight 11 is good especially towing a barn door. The power on the hills is worth having the 6.0. I use Stanadyne with every tank...Good Luck
Just returned from a trip hauling 10K 5th wheel at 62mph highway was fairly flat not to many hills 9mpg. I get 15mpg in city and the truck is stock. 04 cc 4x4 3.73.
SBV45 Please keep us informed on your milage with the new flash.
my trailer is 8'6", i seem to be getting poor mileage according to the reports in here.
the truck is totally stock except the predator at 65, i have to check my tire pressure, just bought a tire gauge, can't find the other one, i consider to drive pretty normal, towing the big trailer i go mostly 60 to 65 mph during the day, and around 55 at night, when not towing i do about 70mph, i try to keep the rpm's at 2k on the highway.
I have a '04 F-250 CC 4x4 3.73 and have been getting not so great mpg myself. Tho the truck only has 5100 miles on it. So I'm hopin it gets better. In town I've been only getting 12-13 mpg. When I first picked it up from Orlando and drove it home at 75 on the interstate it got ~15.5 mpg. Other road trips have showed about the same. I haven't tried to stay below 70 yet on a long trip . Towing a 28' enclosed car hauler has been getting me anywhere from 9-10 mpg. These figures so far are no different then my friends '97 F-350 PSD CC Dually we use to use to pull my trailer. I really hope as it gets broken in, the mileage will increase. Course, my heavy foot doesn't help I'm sure.
edit: btw, these are hand calcs. I don't have the trip computer.

I am running the Predator in the 65hp mode. Stock tires, EGR disconnected. When I run empty and take it easy to work and back which is 70 miles each way I have run as high as 20.6 mpg. Pulling my 16' equipment trailer with a backhoe loaded - total weight of the trailer and tractor approximately 7500# I run between 16.5 to 17.5. This is with the summer blend of diesel. Now that winter is coming on - I expect the mileage to fall at least a mile per gallon as they blend for the cold temps. The truck has just over 10,000 miles - is a 2004 4x4 F250.
Those mileage calculations are from the overhead and doing it with a calculator. They run fairly close to each other in mpg figures. I have all the gauges and watch the boost - keeping it fairly low (2-6 inches) for most driving and acceleration - except when you need the power - it is there.
