Sorry if this has been addressed before, I looked through old posts and didn't see it.
I have a 97 PSD. I just replaced the fuel pump on it, been pretty much running fine. I am having a problem with the Check Engine Light and the Fuel Filter Light indicators. I have already cleared the CE light several times, but it keeps coming back on. After a week of driving after I replaced the fuel pump, my fuel filter light came on. So I replaced the fuel filter. Didn't take care of it. Light will occassionaly come on. Some times it's dim and flickers, almost as if the truck is not sure!
I made sure the cap on the fuel filter housing was tight. I am going to the auto parts store and have them hook up the OBDII scanner to see if I can get an error code.
Just curious if anyone had some thoughts on this one? Things I should start looking for?
I actually pulled the 20 amp fuse in the number 19 slot (I believe that's the slot number) that controls the on board computer. Let it set for half an hour and it clears it. It has worked before this way. So clearing it isn't the issue.
Have you made sure there is no water in the filter bowl? If there isn't, I saw a thread on here a while back about that light remaining illuminated for no apparent reason, but I can't remember what the fix was. You might be able to find it in a search.
