I have an E-350 with the 6.0L PSD. One of the additions that it is getting is a remote start unit. The remote starter needs a tachometer input as feedback that the engine started. I would like to locate a signal source inside of the vehicle to connect to. The Service Manual states that the tachometer in the instrument cluster gets a digital signal from the Powertrain Control Module.
Is there anywhere inside that I can attach to an AC tach signal? If nothing is available inside, can I get a usable signal off of the Cam Position Sensor? Elsewhere?
Well To give you a suggestion as to where to look .
Find the customer access wires that Ford provides.
I'm not totaly sure they were offered on vans ,but they were on superduty's.
They were a group of dead ended wires under the dash with shrink tubing on them.the wire color was a LG/WH and labeled CTO (clean tach output )
Again not sure if it was there for 6.0 or the yr van you have
