93' Ranger 5spd. trans?
I have a 93' ranger with a 3.0 liter and a 5spd trans. Lately it has been harder to get the trans into 2nd and 3rd gear. I think maybe the synchronizer rings are going bad. Do you think a higher performance tranny fluid such as trick shift could help the tranny last longer? Thanks Bob

If your clutch is disengaging fully, and it's hard to do the 2-3 shift, then I'd guess the synchronizer is on its way out also.
I don't think a different tranny fluid would make a difference in life of the ring. The damage is done, there's only one way to make it right again...

Have you checked the level of tranny fluid? A kid that works for me has a '93 4x4, he couldn't get it into second gear. Turns out he was low on fluid. Topped it up with a quality fluid and shazzam, shifts fine. Being the CHEAP SCOTISH B@$T@RD that I am, before I dump money into a new sync I'd try some of the highest quality fluid I could find.

I have used this in my old zf 5 speed, I don't know how it will work in the ranger. But what I did was add a bottle of slick 50 auto trans additive and it smoothed the hole thing out to like new. Hope this helps. Mason
