intermitten starting problem

I have a '96 300 manual trans. a few weeks ago when i tried to start it it would crank real slow then finally start. changed the battery started fine. now when i try to start it nothing just the fender solonoid clicking once. replaced solonoid on the fender replaced terminal ends. tested battery ground by hooking jumper cables from neg. to fram and tried to start. could it be the starter mounted solonoid and if so could someone explain exactly how to test it. any help with this would be great. btw sometimes i go out and it starts right up. and sometimes it seems like if i mess with the clutch it starts but that may just be a coincedence. thanks for any help

check volts at the starter lead wire.ford has been known to have cable problems.bad ground wire.possable clutch switch.try a set of jumper cables to check ground

Clean all connections, to a bright shine, between battery, solenoid, alternator, starter, and ground. Even if that's not the problem, that's one less problem coming up.

Really does sound like your battery and or starter cables. They corrode inside the insulation and you cannot see from the outside. Try removing them and bending them feeling for soft spots. They are cheap to replace
