I have a 1978 Ford 300 straight 6 cylinder. Problem is that it has no power that it should, i've driven other alike fords and they would leave mine sitting like a turtle. I have put a carb kit in it, set the timeing.. it runs very smooth and no dead spots. It has a electronic distributor and am thinking thats the whole problem, maybe its not a very strong spark, but i don't know how to test that, can ya help ?
Does your truck have a catalytic converter? If they clog, it really restricts the flow. This will cause a very sluggish engine. Don't know too much 'bout electronic ignitions so I can't help you there. Seems that if it runs smooth, there's spark. Like I said though, Don't know elec igs.
yes pull it off and look through if you can see through it descently its good. to test the spark though test the coil with an ohm meter test the primary side and the secondary side. the prime should be .7 - 1.9 ohms and the sec. should be most i think 6k or 7k
