I have an 03 6.0 built on 05/03. I just bought the X a week ago and live in Western Washington state where it is very hilly and mountainous. Yesterday driving up a fairly steep hill, the motor shuttered for a second with a loss of power. I backed off and started again same problem only this time I gave it more pedel and it powered thru. It has since done it twice today. I wasn't pulling or hauling and the motor has 17000 miles any help would be great. Also, there is a sticker under the hood with the flash code of 3u7a-12a650?
My guess is that you may need another flash. I don't know if you know, but the early to mid 2003 6.0 diesels had alot of issues. Power loss is just one of them. There is a flash to fix the altitude issue, which I think is your problem. Your vehicle is still under the 3 year/36,000 mile warranty, so your dealer shouldn't charge you for it. Best-o-luck to ya.
I have similar problem. I use my 04/03 Excursion to pull a 7K travel trailer. When starting up a hill with trailer in tow, there is a shudder noise, very faint like a window has just barely been opened. When I give it just a little more throttle, noise goes away, or if the tranny downshifts the noise goes away. I have the Oct 03 flash and vehicle is fantastic except for this noise. It does seem as if you have reached max go power while this noise is occuring, but just a little more fuel and everything straightens out. I have asked about my problem just today over at flatratedieseltech site and was going to ask here also. Now have done both things on my to do list today.
