I noticed what looks to be tiny little rust spots all over my wife's car the other day, even on the plastic pieces & its silver in color. So I called the dealer and took it in so they could look at it, and they said it was rail dust. They explained what it was and how they recommended to get rid of it.
My question for ya'll, is have you heard of it and what will take this contamination off of the paint? They said to clay bar the vehicle, but i wanted to check with a few more car buff's to see what they think.
The *crap* (rust, debris, brake dust, ect) that flies up off the train tracks and wheels and gets on the vehicles during rail transport from Ford to the road carrier stations...
Yea my wifes car has it mostly on the back, and it is on the painted plastic. My best friend is crazy about zaino, and has everyhting zaino makes and gave me a brand new clay bar and several of there waxes to use. Hopefully it will work. I will let ya'll know.
the problem with the rail "dust" is that it usually is sparks from the heated wheels/rails that while heated embed them selves in the clear coat....
and it does take a while to get out....
that's why a lot of manufacturers have gone to the plastic wrap on the cars to keep them as "clean" as possible...
Yea it took alomst a year for us to notice it on the car. One reason is the car doesn't get drove much. Almost 2 years old and has alil over 9500 miles. I just noticed it in the last couple months.
Does anyone sell zaino off of this site? Just wondering if it was offered by a supportter on here.
That I don't know. Actually my wife came in from the garage one day and said her car was rusting. I went out to look and i thought for sure it was. I thought something had got messed up when the manuf. applied the clear coat to the base coat. But after going to the "dealership" they said it was rail dust.
I did have the dealership work up a service order though regarding this. Just in case.
