I posted a reply to my old thread but I was not sure if someone would read it because it has been soo long since I wrote. I only drive the truck in the winter. Its a 93 explorer. It has cluncking noises and bad steering shaking but after replacing the old auto hubs with new warn manual hubs that problem went away. Now I have a new problem, after I turn to the right the truck seems to want to keep going to the right after the turn. I have to put extra pressure on the steering wheel to try to get it to go straight, then the wheel gets loose (almost going into the oncomming traffic) and it starts to go straight. When I turn left the sterring seems to be fine. When Im going down the highway if I turn a right small corner the problem starts and I have to pull the wheel (not real hard) to the left then it acts like it overcorrects. The power steering pump does make a whinning noise but the fluid is full. My stepdad drove the truck and he thinks that it might be the pump not putting out enough pressure. The garrage said that the passenger side u-joint was snapping and that the driverside would also need replased. They want $320.00, and I dont have that kind of money right now so I want to be double sure that this is the problem. There also are no noises hurd while turning or anything so thats another reason why we dont think its the u-joint. Please Help!!
