Found a 350 DRW spec'd the way I like except for one thing. It has the Continental tires on it. Will the dealer negotiate and swap tires? I believe I read a thread where someone did this but cost them $250.00.
It depends on the dealer. In 2002, when I bought my F250, the dealer was going to give me $40 each for the Tombstone R4S's that came on the truck & gave me a good price on the BFG (yes they also charged me for mounting & balancing).
Is the truck new or used? If it is used off a used car lot the folks there can just take the tires and use them on the next truck they buy that needs a set before they can sell it.
technically I believe they are not supposed to modify the vehicle, or atleast it is frowned upon, but in july 2002 when i was shopping for superdutys, one superduty on the lot was there that the wheels/tires that were obviously switched on. It was a 2002 f 350 xlt with optional aluminum wheels and white outline tires sized 265 -16s on the sticker, but it had plastic hubcaps with 235-16 blackwalls on the truck. By the way, i was studying the stickers to equipment on the truck and some had extra options, and some were missing options. I saw a hitch on a sticker and no hitch on the truck, but the wires were there. I have a late 2002 F350 superduty truck made on one of the last days of 02 production, and it came delivered with an FX4 package that was not available till 03, and lariet wheels which were supposedly unavailable on my standard cab XLT. (lariet was unavailable on std cab). Both items are not on the window sticker, and as for the fx4 it has a skid plate, FX4 graphics and the rancho shocks. By looking on line at ford , my 3.73 limited slip axle is supposedly unavailable on a fx4. Im sure other owners can tell you more variations. Bill
Don't know about Ford but when I bought my wifes 1984 GMC Jimmy it came with all weather tires. I told the dealer I wanted Wrangler AT's installed on the truck as we were headed to Alaska. They put $500 worth of tires on the vehicle (All 5) just to sell it. Doesn't hurt to ask
Bought my truck in March, They swapped rubber between trucks no questions asked and no charge. My Bridgestone desert duellers are way better than the condom thin tires it came with. Not to mention they fill the fenders more, 235 vs 285's.
If it has the 18" rims and you are talking about the Continental Contitrac TR M&S 275/70R18E 122/125S Tires then I doubt Ford will alllow the change on their dime. Maybe the dealer will eat the $1200+ to swap out all five but somehow I doubt it unless it is a hard to sell truck and they jack up the price to you to cover the loss. Since the 18" rims are so new there are very few E rated tires available and what is out there is darned expensive.
I was able to get FoMoCo to refund my $250 option cost for the All Terrain tires that ended up being the Contitrac M&S on my new 05 King Ranch.
