I have a 2000 expediction 4x4 and have experienced tire couping and wear on outside of tires expecially onright front. Dealer has aligned car and corrected (set toe)??? Still after 9,000 miles tires are worn. Now at 20,000 I need new tires metal is coming out of tires. I can't believe I will need new tires every 15,000 miles. The car still seems to be out of alignment. I am buying new tires only to have them wear out on the outside fronts. Can anyone suggest how this problem can be fixed. I am very frustrated that a new car has tire problems and the dealer said that only one free tire alignment. Any suggestions???
I would have the alignment checked again reguardless if it the same dealer, another dealer, or an independent garage. My Expi has 23,000 on it and the tires still have plenty of miles on them. One thing Ford did mention is to rotate the tires every 6 to 8 thousand miles. I could not believe it. I did notice that the front tires do round off quicker then normal. I was astonished on how well the truck handeled after the first rotation. Night and day. Tighter steering. Reguardless of rotating the tires, you still should get basic tire mileage. Good luck.
Camber out of specs can cause tire wear. You may need to purchase camber plates so camber can be adjusted on your vehicle. Camber is not adjustable on the Expy out of the factory.
