After driving for like 30mins. I've noticed when coming to a stop it downshifts a little rough right before it comes to a complete stop. But before 30 mins or so it stops fine it only happens when braking. Like I said only happens after driving for a while. If anyone here has experience this or has any information on how to solve this issue would greatly appreciate any information regarding this. Thanking you in advance. F150 SUPERCREW with 8,657 miles
Thats very low miles, what year is it? Have you checked the tranny fluid level? I would take it to the dealer (still on warranty, right? ) and have it checked out.

It’s a 03. Yeah I was thinking about taking it to the dealer but I am afraid they might tell me something crazy like oh I have to replace your transmission or something you know. I’ve been reading a lot here on FTE and there are a lot of people here that know there stuff about these trucks. That’s why I was asking for some advice towards what to check and what to do before I take it to the dealer.
Did you check the fluid level? Any signs of leaks? Has the check engine light come on?
Fluid level is fine, no leaks and the light hasn’t came on. There is one thing that did happen only once after stopping a few times and the hard shift I am talking about happened. The overdrive light started to flash I would press the button and nothing would happen it kept on flashing left the truck off for about 3 hours and back to normal hasn’t happened again.

If it was mine, I'd take it to the dealer. If it were to need a new transmission, or some other repair, better now than when the warranty runs out. And remember, if you don't like what you hear from one dealer, go somewhere else and get another opinion. Just my 2 $0.02
I have my 1999 Lariat 5.4 Triton in the shop right now for samething..hard downshifting 3rd..to 2nd...to 1st...First time I took it in I was told it was "driveline slack"...which was bs...2nd time...they said they drove it 15 miles...nothing....this time (3rd)they duplicated the issue and now they are removing and inspecting tranny to find out what failed and fix it...I have 2 months left on my extended warranty HAHA...I will post the results.
Finally this is the same thing my truck is doing, I too have a 99, but my problem only occurs downshifting 2nd--to 1st, it always happens with a click or crack sound, you should try turing off the od button to see if its the same,my truck downshifts without incident with the od off, its very frustrating.
the downshifting hardness was caused by a bad "anti-clunk spring" which resulted in what the shop called a "soft rebuild" that cost them $1375 and cost me 50$ thru my extended warranty...they replaced the main control valve...torque converter assybly....overdrive band assymbly the anti-clunk spring itself, several gaskets, filter assymbly, screen, plus all new fluid and a pre-flush...parts total was $540.00,labor was $790.00,tax was $44.00...I do have a list of all the part numbers if anyone wants them...shifts like new or better now....truck just turned 60k miles, never pulled anything with truck....hopefully it makes another 60k...
tried to post a site of the same tranny with picture by picture on rebuild.
that has that cheesy part called "anti-clunk spring" ... send me your email addy and I will mail back the link....forum refused to let me apply the link....
I've got an '02 Supercrew with the 4.6 and I've been experiencing the same hard downshift as you're describing.
I've had this happening now for over a year - changed the fluid once - no change. It's most noticeable between 2nd to 1st.
I wonder if it will have any affect on transmission life?
rG737 my truck a 99, has been like this for over a year now as well, I am beginning to notice a whining sound in my truck when slowing down and I now know from the above posts that it must be the tranny, Im gonna use it till it blows, Ialso have to replace inner tie-rod ends, lower ball joints , all with just 84,000 kilometersor 50,000 miles, great trucks we have aren"t they, QUALITY IS JOB 1. LOL
