Question Intermittent spark?

Hi, I have a 94’ Ranger w/4.0. There is a bad hesitation cause by an intermittent spark problem. It will spark fine, then all of a sudden miss a few times, then start sparking normal again. Every cylinder does this but at different times. New plugs and wires installed, but no luck. Any ideas what would cause it? Thanks!

It's highly likely that a trouble code or 2 has been stored. You should therefore pull the codes, you don't even need a scanner on your EEC-IV system to do it:

Once you ascertain the codes, post them here and then we can take it from there.

I ran the codes today, and the KOEO test gave me nothing. The KOER test gave me a code 136, which is "System indicates lean bank #2". This still doesn't explain the misfiring, unless the computer is responsible for that. Any ideas?

Well the hesitation and overall poor performance problem is solved. The MAF needed a cleaning(yeah I feel stupid), but the code 136 is still showing up. I checked for vacuum leaks but found none and the vacuum gauge is solid as a rock. Only thing I can think of is O2 sensor sending incorrect signal?

Keep in mind that that loose upper and /or lower intake bolts can contribute to a lean condition.

If you can't find any vacuum leaks, then the 02 sensor is the likely culprit.
