361 rpms

what would the redline be on a 361 in F700 grain truck it has a 4 barrell on it, the reason i ask is i usually rap it up pretty good when i run it and i figger id better ask before it blows.

I wouldnt take it above 5000rpm. I'd be surprised if it would have any power above 4000rpm. Reason being, that the heads are low flowing torque heads and shouldn't support really high rpm.

My '79 Motor's Truck Repair Manual lists the 361 and shows it for a few years with a governed speed of 3600RPM, and 3800RPM for one.

So, looks like 4000RPM is about where you want to stop

The motor is built like a brick outhouse, so except for valve float, nothing's going to happen if you rev it up to 5000RPM I wouldn't think...
