Recently my 99 Expedition 4.6 L has been idleling erratically on cold starts, often cutting out unless given gas until the engine warms up. Once the engine is warm it runs fine. No trouble codes detected at Autozone (checked it two days in a row). The pcv valve is working fine and I checked all the vacuum lines. It has 70K and is due a tune-up, so I plan on replacing the plugs. Thinking about IAC valve.....Any suggestions?
Thanks
I thought it might be, so I went ahead and replaced it. I could tell the old one was worn on the inside. Seems to be working fine now. I am just a little disappointed that the PCM decided it wasn't worthy of a trouble code.
thanks to all who respond to questions...it sure beats going into these problems blindly
Bedasi, it's located on the top of the engine directly behind the throttle body kinda toward the passenger side. It is a small cylinder shaped part probably about 4-5 inches long with a couple wires attached to it.
Here is a picture of what it looks like. You can thank Monsta for this one! It has been posted previously. It is basically in between the firewall and the throttle body. Good luck
