I need some info here, i'm looking at doing a engine swap, putting a 6.9L in my F-350 which curently has a 5.8 W/C6 I was told the 6.9 C-6 has a different bell housing, so can i just swap the housing on mine? does any one know what else need to be changed other than th obvious, radiator, fuel system, ?? Thanks for any help you can give. DW
Well, first, the bell housing on a C6 is integral with the rest of the case. so you will need the whole trans. Next, the rad support is different, heavier, so you will need that. The 6.9 is considerably heavier, so the springs will need replaced as well to hold up to the additional weight. A complete parts truck would be your best way to go to get all of this.
the bell housing is built w/trans on C6 but trans are the same what is needed is the
plate that goe's between trans and motor you also need mounts, rad, wire harness
for glow plugs.core supt.a parts truck is the best I just did a 460 to 6.9 swap
Well that what i got was a whole parts truck, as far as the tranny, the donor truck is a man. trans, so are the bell housing paterns diferent between the 5.8 and the 6.9 C6's??
Thanx DW
so i should be able to pull both trucks side by side swap the motors and ness. stuff and kepp the original tranys in ther trucks? That would be great. DW
