400 engine project

Here is the start of the 400 project I had mention awhile ago. Currenly there is only pictures, but I will be adding details in a few days. One picture to note is the sonic test of a .030" bore. Rule of thumb is .100"-.125" minimum cylinder wall thickness.

Hopefully we will be dynoing in a month.

That block looks good and clean. What did you do to get the rust and scale out of the cooling passages?

Nice! This may sound dumb, but can you put an entire block in a shaker to clean it?

All parts that get baked at 750 degrees and blasted with steel shot. Our blaster turnes the engine over and over. We have never had problems due to Steel shot, But we are very picky about blowing and final cleaning.

Block looks gorgeous. I've never had a block look that clean when it came back from the machine shop.

Thanks, didn't know if it would score the cylinders or do other damage.

Thanks guys,

I will be adding more. I uploaded about a 7 second movie of grinding the rod journals of the crankshaft. I know most people always wonder how it is done. I have not got it linked yet, but I'm still adding pics. I'll also have pics of the new Hyper. pistons machined with a total of 32cc dish for the Aussie heads.

Keep in touch.
