I bought this truck as a parts truck, 79 F150 Ranger 4wd, Really all the running gear and everything essential for a mud truck is there, when i got it, had two motors a locked up 351m (the original engine) and a locked up 400 (out of a 1971 LTD wagon) Well the 351m is junked and just being used for parts but I got the 400 unlocked and is running, just needs a new accelerator pump. I basically have everything so (I thought I should share to my fellow FTE members) if I can find the time I am going to install the 400, find some meats for it and hope to best I can make it the mud bogs soon. well obviously I have some work to do, but I started gathering things up today, actually some of the stuff i took off my truck that got replaced by what this truck had like the hood latch. Here's another look at what I'm into.
haha oh yeah i had my dad help me last time, he told me now its my turn, this week im going to try and get the motor ready before i even mess with anything else, I'm wondering since I don't have gauges in this truck, should I put gauges in just to ensure temperature and oil pressure? I don't want to really be hard on this truck.
with an engine that is a bit iffy (it was stuck) you would be crazy not to run gauges.
with an engine thats a maypop to begin with what difference does it make if it over heats or loses oil pressure?
Its a modified! not like its a great loss to the world if it blows the cranks threw the side of the block *just sayin*
an besides watching the gauges will just cause you to let off quicker when your playin in the hole! let it get hot it wont hurt it!
welp started gathering things up, but i made a mistake: decided to make street legal too (still making a mudder though). So that means i get to go through all the fun of making sure all lights work and brakes properly, I'm only doing this because some of my mud spots, you can't get to from the backroads (yet) and theres no sense of loading up on a trailer just to go down the road a lil bit.
