The six gun for the 7.3 hooks up to the map senser and the icp senser and you have to drill and tap the manifold for the egt function to work it will only show a error if it detects a fault in one of those circuits just installed mine this weekend. I didn't get the gain i was hoping for but it did help out a good bit. I like the fact that it takes care of the need for gauges, going to add the banks boss hog to it in the near future.

i do not know the banks 6-gun for the 7.3. what part of the system "takes care of the need for gauges"

the six gun is a tuner and gauges in one u have to drill and tap the manifold for the egt probe and it will diplsy either boost,egt or percentage of fuel that u r using which ever u program it to do. I just liked it becasue i didn't have to buy a tuner then get gauges and a pod end up spending twice as much.

how much $ is a TAP set (or is it called Dye tap) and can you get it at lowes, home depot etc????

Im sure u could get the tap at a lowes or hardware store u have to drill a 7/16 hole then tap it to 1/4 npt threads i had a machine shope do mine for 15 bucks.

It's a Tap & Die set. The Tap is for tapping (or threading) holes, like making a nut. The Die is for threading stock, like making a bolt. You can get them at any hardware store. There are also NF (National Fine), NC (National Coarse), and NPT (National Pipe Thread) which are all different pitches and threads per inch. So pay attention to buy the one that you need. Also, the six point Dies are way better then the round dies.
