tank sizes

I have a 90 econoline conversion with the dual tanks. The sending units are corroded and need to be replaced. I'm not sure of the tank capacities. The fellow I bought it from says he thinks there both 12 gallon tanks. Can anyone give me a hint on what I might have or how to find out since the fuel gauge never has worked and I don't know how much was fulll since I never knew when it they were getting empty.

The forward tank should be either 16 or 19 gallons, but there were several options for the rear tank- if it is tucked up between the framerails and doesn't hang down below the frame, it is most likely around 19 gallons. If the bottom hangs down below the rails about 3", it is around 26 gallons, and if it hangs down almost 6", it is 32 gallons. I think it would be highly unlikely to find a 12 gallon tank in any American truck, even rangers have 13-14 gallon tanks.
